Ships Blog

Sea Date - 5th June 2011

Well, I can hardly believe it's been nearly a year since the last blog.  So much has been happening here at CIA Towers, and after a quiet period towards the end of last year, it's been full steam ahead since!  Lots of group and charter proposals, with a high conversion rate, and some incredible site inspections too.

There has been many new ships coming onto the market with more to come.  To date, there are 19 new ships on order, with a combined total number of beds of 54,299 with a total value of US$13,106,000,000.

Market conditions are changing too with ships being based in Europe year round, and line's operating to the Baltic for the first time in December to take advantage of the Christmas markets.

The port of Southampton is also proving a major player in  the market, as more lines are using it as a turnaround hub for cruises.  It's not uncommon to see at least 3 ships in on any given day, and up to 7.  Definitely the place to be if you are a ship spotter, or, a place to avoid if you're planning a shopping trip there!

Happy Sailing...

Sea Date - 18th June 2010

It's been a bit of a month with new ships arriving on the market - The Yachts of Seabourn took delivery of their 450 guest Seabourn Soujourn, which was named by Twiggy on a balmy evening just off Greenwich.

NCL have taken delivery of the 4,200 guest Norwegian Epic - which is certainly ruffling a few feathers with her very top heavy design, and, over the next few months we will see the new arrivals of Holland America Line's Nieuw Amsterdam (2,100 guests), RCI's Allure of  the Seas (5,400 guests) and Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth (2,100 guests).

Get that Champagne chilled!

Until the next time...

Well, here's our first blog from CIA Towers, and one we hope you will bookmark and visit again!

New figures from the Passenger Shipping Association show that 1.65 million Brits are expected to take a cruise in 2010, more than a 7% increase over 2009. And figures for 2011 predict this rise to 1.75 million.

Now this may explain why we are receiving so many requests for this great type of travel experience!

Short and sweet this first time, but please do let us know any comments, suggestions or your own views, photos and experiences of cruising, be it a personal holiday or an incentive or conference group  - e-mail us here

We promise to publish them!
